John Plunkett is a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Exeter. His publications include Queen Victoria – First Media Monarch (Oxford University Press, 2003), Victorian Print Media: A Reader (Oxford University Press, 2005) and Popular Print Media 1820-1900 (Routledge, 2004), both co-edited with Andrew King, and Multimedia Histories: From the Magic Lantern to the Internet (Exeter University Press, 2007) co-edited with James Lyons. He is working on a book on nineteenth-century optical recreations, including the panorama, diorama, peepshow, stereoscope and magic lantern.
