The Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies

19 is affiliated with the Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies, a collaborative intellectual project founded at Birkbeck in 1996. At its inception, the Centre was ground-breaking in bringing together scholars from several disciplines across three Schools of the College: English and Humanities; History, Classics and Archaeology; and History of Art, Film and Visual Media. Today, the Centre acts as an intellectual hub for a range of scholars working in nineteenth-century studies across several departments and schools, and continues to host and support a range of diverse and interdisciplinary projects and events.
